There's a saying the lesser the better. When it comes to arguments for example, the lesser you say the better will be especially when you don't really know what the topic is. It is better to be on the safe zone rather than pushing yourself into something you are not really sure of. As a conclusion, if you are not sure of what you'll say it is better to stay silent than to sound stupid.
